U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Walter Reed Medical Center on Tuesday for what officials describe as a routine medical and dental check-up, marking his third hospital visit in just 13 months.
According to the Washington Post, the latest appointment follows previous medical consultations in April 2025 for his annual physical examination and another scheduled follow-up in October of the same year.
The repeated visits have drawn renewed attention, with some medical experts and political observers publicly questioning the 79-year-old president’s physical condition and overall fitness for office. Concerns have also been fueled by recent public appearances in which Trump has been seen with visible bruises and red marks on his hands and neck.
Public opinion appears to be shifting as well. A Washington Post–ABC News–Ipsos poll conducted in April found that only 40 percent of Americans believe Trump possesses the mental sharpness required for the presidency, a decline from 47 percent recorded in September. Confidence in his physical fitness has also dropped, with 44 percent now saying he is fit for office compared to 54 percent previously.
The issue of cognitive ability has been politically sensitive, as Trump previously made mental fitness a key talking point during the 2024 election campaign, often criticizing former President Joe Biden on similar grounds.
Despite the concerns, Trump has continued to insist he is in excellent health, stating on several occasions that he feels better now than he did decades ago.
