Member of the House of Representatives representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau State, Yusuf Gagdi, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to seek re-election for a third term in the National Assembly.
According to reports, Gagdi was defeated by Dr. John Tongshinen during the party’s direct primary election conducted ahead of the next general elections.
Announcing the results at the constituency headquarters in Pankshin on Sunday, the electoral officer who supervised the exercise, Monday Daspan, disclosed that Dr. John Tongshinen secured 29,968 votes, while Yusuf Gagdi polled 5,849 votes.
The outcome officially ends Gagdi’s bid to return to the House of Representatives for another term under the APC platform.
The development has since generated reactions among party supporters and political observers in Plateau State, particularly due to the wide margin recorded in the primary election.
