The Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission (PSC) have extended the deadline for the ongoing police recruitment exercise following a low number of applications from Lagos State and several other parts of the country.
According to the PSC, the decision was taken to give more eligible Nigerians the opportunity to participate in the recruitment process, especially in states where interest has been unexpectedly low. The commission expressed concern over the poor response from Lagos, Nigeria’s most populous state, as well as some other urban centres.
A PSC spokesperson explained that the extension would allow the commission to achieve a more balanced and representative intake across the federation. Eligible candidates were urged to take advantage of the new deadline and complete their applications through the official recruitment portal.
The recruitment exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the federal government to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force by addressing manpower shortages and improving security nationwide.
