There was commotion at a livestock market in Kwara State after some suspected stolen cows reportedly recognised their original owners, leading to the arrest of a man alleged to be linked to bandit activities.
According to reports, the incident happened at the Ajase-Ipo cattle market when the animals reacted strongly upon seeing a group of herders believed to be their rightful owners. Witnesses said the unusual behaviour of the cows raised suspicion among traders and market authorities.
The herders later identified the cattle through distinct body features and markings, insisting the animals had earlier been stolen during attacks in their communities.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Jabi, was reportedly unable to provide convincing proof of ownership when questioned by security operatives.
Security sources disclosed that investigations later linked the suspect to a bandit network allegedly operating within forest areas around Kwara, Niger and Kogi states.
The cattle were eventually returned to their owners, while authorities intensified efforts to track down other members of the criminal group.
