
Police in Niger State have arrested a 23-year-old man, Abdulazeez Abubakar, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Sadiq Sani, aged 20, to death following a heated argument over sachet water.
According to police sources, the incident occurred when a minor disagreement between the two young men escalated into a violent confrontation. During the altercation, Abubakar was said to have attacked Sani with a sharp object, inflicting serious injuries.
Sadiq Sani was rushed to a medical facility for treatment but was later confirmed dead by health officials. His death prompted the intervention of law enforcement officers, who arrested the suspect shortly after the incident.
The police said the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the killing. Authorities also disclosed that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, who described the tragedy as a needless loss of life over a trivial disagreement.
