Gunmen on Tuesday abducted six directors from Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence along the Lokoja–Abuja highway in Kogi State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the officials were ambushed while returning to Abuja after an official assignment. Sources said the attackers blocked the highway, forced the convoy to stop, and whisked away the senior civil servants into the forest.
Security agencies have reportedly launched a search-and-rescue operation to locate the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The abduction has heightened concerns over the rising wave of insecurity along major routes connecting Abuja to other parts of the country.
