Abuja — The Federal High Court in Abuja will on Friday, September 26, 2025, deliver its ruling on the no-case submission filed by the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, in his ongoing trial on terrorism charges.
The decision, earlier scheduled for October 10, was brought forward after Justice James Omotosho heard arguments from both the defence and prosecution.
Kanu’s legal team, led by Kanu Agabi (SAN), argued that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case linking him to the charges, and therefore urged the court to dismiss the matter without requiring him to open a defence.
The prosecution, led by Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), countered that witnesses and evidence presented so far were sufficient to compel the IPOB leader to defend himself.
The ruling is expected to be pivotal in the case. If the court upholds the no-case submission, Kanu could be discharged; however, if dismissed, the trial will proceed with the defence opening its case.
