The United States has strongly condemned the killing of members of the family of the Regional Leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, describing the attack as a tragic act of violence and calling for those responsible to be held accountable.
In a statement issued by the US Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs, the US government expressed its deepest condolences to Rev. Dachomo, the bereaved families, and all those affected by the attack. It described the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the persistent insecurity affecting communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
The United States urged Nigerian authorities to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable communities, prevent further violence, and ensure that those behind the killings are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Washington also reaffirmed its support for initiatives aimed at promoting peace, justice, and stability in Plateau State and other parts of Nigeria affected by recurring violence. It stressed the importance of safeguarding the lives of civilians and addressing the root causes of insecurity through effective law enforcement and community engagement.
The attack, which claimed the lives of members of Rev. Dachomo’s family, has drawn widespread condemnation from religious leaders, civil society groups, and members of the international community, with renewed calls for stronger security measures to curb the cycle of violence in Plateau State.
