Police Vow Justice Over Killing of Arise TV Anchor in Abuja

Abuja, Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force has assured that justice will be served in the case of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, an Arise Television anchor and reporter, who was killed during an armed robbery at her Abuja residence.

Police authorities confirmed on Monday that investigations are underway to track down the assailants responsible for the journalist’s death. The Force described the incident as “unfortunate and unacceptable,” adding that no effort will be spared in ensuring those behind the crime are apprehended and prosecuted.

The management of Arise TV, alongside media groups and civil society organisations, has condemned the killing, urging swift action from security agencies.

Maduagwu’s death has sparked nationwide outrage, renewing concerns over the safety of journalists and the rising spate of violent crimes in the country.
