The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has handed the Federal Government a fresh 24-hour ultimatum to address its pending demands or risk a nationwide strike that could paralyze healthcare services across the country.
In a statement released on Thursday, the association expressed disappointment that earlier agreements with the government had not been honored, particularly issues bordering on salary arrears, improved welfare, and better working conditions.
NARD said it had shown restraint by suspending its last industrial action following assurances from the government but warned that patience among its members is wearing thin.
“This ultimatum is our final warning. If the government fails to act within the stipulated period, resident doctors nationwide will have no option but to withdraw their services,” the statement read in part.
The development has raised fresh concerns among patients and healthcare workers as the threat of industrial action looms over public hospitals.
