At least five Nigerian soldiers were killed after a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a military convoy in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State.
Security sources confirmed that the attacker drove a vehicle packed with improvised explosives into the convoy, causing extensive damage. Several soldiers sustained injuries, though the exact number has not been disclosed.
Sources told Daily Trust that two senior military officers a Major and a Lieutenant—were among those wounded in the attack.
According to a soldier who spoke on condition of anonymity, the explosion destroyed key military equipment used for both offensive and defensive operations during ongoing counterterrorism missions in the area.
The attack reportedly occurred as troops were returning from a successful operation in the Timbuktu Triangle, where several terrorist camps had been dismantled and numerous insurgents neutralized.
