ISIS Deputy Leader Killed In Joint US-Nigerian Military Operation – Trump

United States President Donald Trump has announced the killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as the second-in-command of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), during a joint military operation involving American and Nigerian troops.

Trump disclosed the development in a statement on Friday, saying the operation was carried out successfully in Nigeria through coordinated efforts between the US military and Nigerian security forces.

According to the US President, the mission was highly strategic and targeted, leading to the elimination of the senior ISIS commander believed to have played a major role in coordinating extremist activities across parts of Africa.

He described the operation as a major victory in the global fight against terrorism, praising both American forces and Nigerian troops for their cooperation and effectiveness during the mission.

Trump further stated that the operation reflects the growing security partnership between the United States and Nigeria in combating insurgency, terrorism, and other security threats affecting the region.

Although details surrounding the exact location and timing of the operation were not immediately disclosed, security analysts believe the development could significantly weaken ISIS-linked operations within the Lake Chad region and parts of West Africa where extremist groups have remained active.

Neither the Nigerian military nor US defence authorities had released additional operational details as of the time of filing this report.

The development comes amid ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by Nigerian security agencies against insurgent groups operating in the country’s northern region.
