A Nigerian female soldier, identified as Corporal Marian Agumba, has accused several senior officers of the Nigerian Army of sexual harassment, physical assault, and issuing threats to her life.
In a video circulating on social media, Agumba appealed to President Bola Tinubu and top military authorities, alleging that she has faced years of intimidation after refusing sexual advances from superior officers. She claimed that despite resigning from service in July after 13 years, the harassment continued.
According to her account, she and her child were allegedly detained and assaulted on the orders of senior officers. She also stated that she was unlawfully punished, demoted, and denied access to her child during the ordeal. Agumba mentioned names of specific officers she accused of orchestrating the assaults.
She further alleged that threats to her life persist, saying some officials have attempted to withhold her service certificates and benefits. Agumba also raised concerns about what she described as widespread corruption and mistreatment of female soldiers within the Army.
As of the time of reporting, the Nigerian Army has not issued an official response to the allegations.
