Putin Accuses Europe of Sabotaging Peace Efforts, Says Russia “Ready” if War Breaks Out

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Russia is “ready” for war should European nations choose confrontation, accusing European leaders of attempting to derail ongoing peace negotiations with Ukraine.

Speaking ahead of a scheduled meeting in Moscow with United States envoys over a proposed peace deal, Putin criticised Europe’s role in the process, claiming the latest European proposals were “absolutely unacceptable” to Moscow.

“They don’t have a peace agenda; they’re on the side of war,” he said, alleging that European governments were undermining diplomatic efforts.

The initial draft peace plan, negotiated between Washington and Moscow, had raised concern in Kyiv and across Europe due to claims it leaned heavily toward Russia’s demands. Following the backlash, the proposal was revised with contributions from Ukraine and its European partners, although full details of the updated document have not yet been made public.

Discussions between Russia and the US are expected to continue as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain fragile.
