More Nigerians Die Than in War-Torn Nations, Says Peter Obi

The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, lamenting that more people are being killed in the country than in some nations currently at war.

Obi, in a statement on Sunday, decried the daily loss of lives across various regions due to banditry, terrorism, and other violent crimes, stressing that the government’s failure to protect its citizens has become alarming.

He urged authorities to prioritize the safety of Nigerians, noting that insecurity is crippling the economy, discouraging investment, and worsening poverty.

The former Anambra governor also called for a comprehensive security reform and increased support for security agencies to effectively tackle the ongoing crisis.
