The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. The minister congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad, urging citizens to uphold the spirit of unity, patriotism, and resilience that has defined the nation since gaining independence in 1960.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also encouraged Nigerians to remain confident in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that the nation’s collective efforts in fostering economic growth, social cohesion, and national development are crucial to achieving progress.
The Minister further expressed optimism that with cooperation from all Nigerians, the country would continue to advance in peace, prosperity, and sustainable development, while extending wishes for a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
